    Hi all,
I’d love to get feedback on using ART with facilitating recovery from eating disorders. My understanding is that we’d process out root trauma if there are any and then move into typical day with themes that show up in relation to the ED – e.g. body image concerns, anxiety, depression, rigidity/rules, etc. I’d love to hear more about how people map out this work specifically to target these areas. I’ve done a few typical day scripts so far and look forward to seeing what clients report back. Thanks so much!

I was very fortunate to utilize ART, when I was working with a inpatient residential program. You can always focus on trauma, typical day is also a good way to start. But I think what has helped the best was processing through tears of change. Also finding out what the secondary gain of their behaviors are.

I just completed an art session with a child who is experiencing significant distress and worry about gaining weight after eating. We used typical day. I’m not sure there was any improvement. After the session, she said she experienced relief during the session, but then immediately began to worry after it was done. Sigh….. Not sure what to think.
