What is the best way to use ART when there is a long sequence of related events? For instance – an at-fault car accident with a tragic ending, followed by a barrage of small -town news coverage, then all the attorney interactions, the court involvement, prison for 2-3 months, then a scary probation officer… My thought is to break up the event into sections and process each section with the full protocol. Does this sound like a good plan? Any other ideas or suggestions?

Laney reminded me today that we can erase, paint, and replace at any time… So maybe start the session by erasing, painting, and replacing the most distressing image. Or you can suggest that the client put this whole experience into a movie montage of sorts, knowing that they can erase, paint, and replace at anytime. All of the distressing images associated with the car crash can be put in the pile. Less gab, more grab. Let their brain do the work and contain anything that is left over for a future session.

Let me know how it goes! 🙂
