Keep Your Website Up to Date to Bring More Clients to Your Practice

Man in his home reading a therapists blog. Blogs are an important part of marketing for therapists.

Potential clients are looking for a therapist the same way they are looking for other services. They are turning to their friends, social media, and general internet searches. Therapists have many marketing opportunities on the internet to attract new clients and promote their practice. All roads lead back to their websites.

Your Website

Keep your website simple and appealing, yet informative. Let those that land on your homepage know what your business is about. Let people know what your specialty is and who your ideal client is. Put a picture of yourself on your homepage. Create separate pages. At a minimum, create an “About Me” page, and a Blog page in addition to your Homepage.

Put a call to action at the end of each page. What action do you want the reader to take? You want them to schedule an appointment! Tell them to do just that. Give them the tools to do it now—this is a crucial element of marketing for therapists.

Social Media

Use social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and LinkedIn, to draw more traffic to your website and your practice. Maintain accounts for your practice on each of these sites. Keep each of these sites current and post at least once per month with a link back to your website. Maintain active buttons to your social media pages on your website as well.

Blogging

Maintain a blog on your website. Search engines direct searchers to your website based on keyword searches. Keep your blogs short and to the point. Stay between 300 to 500 words. Readers are not looking for long articles. Their attention span is short. Keep them on your page long enough to take the call to action. Write a blog post at least once per month. Don’t use the blogs to tell the reader how smart you are or get too clinical. If the general topic is depression, discuss how depression impacts your ideal client’s life. Give them some ideas that they can do to help themselves such as mindfulness techniques. Then direct them to the call to action for further assistance.

It is more important than ever to have a presence on the internet. Not just a presence, but a website that can be found, and will bring new clients. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not dead. It is still alive and well. Marketing for therapists is very important and today, one of the features of internet searches is the importance of an active website. A website that has not been updated at least once per month will start to slip down the search results into oblivion. Keep your website fresh to stay relevant and keep your practice full and profitable.
